In 2023, the EU adopted a new regulation to limit plastic pollution, including microplastic pollution.
The microplastics restriction is effective from 17 October 2023, which means that from 17 October 2031, you can no longer sell (and buy) rubber granules for use as infill material on artificial turf pitches.
Before 17 October 2031, you can continue to construct, use and maintain artificial turf pitches with rubber granules as infill, and after 17 October 2031 you can continue to use and maintain artificial turf pitches, but if you need to add additional infill material, it must be from your own stock.
