We have a standard (TR 17519) for building artificial turf pitches with proper Risk Management Measures (RMM). Silkeborgbanen is designed according to the recommendations described in the CEN report (DS/CEN/TR 17519) and in order to test the recommended RMMs.
Danish Technological Institute is involved in the documentation of the effects of the installed RMMs on Silkeborgbanen. The recommendations contained in this concept paper are based partly on the experience obtained in this project, and partly on the long track record for documentation of environmental effects of artificial turf fields. It is supplementary to the CEN standard TR 17519.
It is our hope that this document can inspire a future standard for measuring RMM-efficacy.
